can blithe gifs be seen

Merely the Original will exist in gif format, so y'all need to go to the All Sizes page and click on the "Original".

The photo page will only show upwardly as a Jpeg.

ED. I believe there is a feature request on User Voice to brandish the gif every bit blithe on the photo page.

Yep, here information technology is:

The original file will all the same be an blithe gif and can be viewed via the all sizes page. But Flickr converts un-supported filetypes, like gifs, to jpg for displaying on the site, and jpgs won't animate.

Cheers, how do I get to the all sizes folio?

Click on the download icon, bottom right on the black photo surface area on the individual photo folio, it looks similar an arrow sitting on a horizontal line - next you click on "All Sizes" from the popular up bill of fare.

On the All Sizes page look to elevation left Right and find the link of the Original. Click on that.

Thanks, I followed your link and I meet the animated gif feature request was made nigh ii years agone, and but 1 comment over 1 year ago seconded the request.

The VOTE push button has been disabled at present too, and I presume because I too come across that there is a very recent REVIEWED date of August x, 2016 (so information technology's only taken 20 months to finally exist reviewed, lol)

Simply no staff has ever responded to the thread, so no idea what'southward happening with that request so we are left wondering how much longer we will accept to wait for an bodily response to the asking, if whatsoever come up at all.

That would seem to suggest in that location is trivial or no back up for the thought and information technology is unlikely to be implemented.

Just to hopefully add together something else to this discussion which could exist helpful . . .

After an animated gif has been uploaded successfully to your stream, and plainly just appears as a normal photo jpeg inside your stream, the best thing to practise so people can see the animation immediately when they first click on the image from your stream, group, or other area of Flickr, is to add the proper embed lawmaking into a annotate right under the photo.

On the image page to the right of the prototype in the black area, there is a correct pointing curved pointer to Share Photo, just click this pointer.

In the popup box that should come up up;
click the Embed tab.
at the bottom in the drop-down arrow box, make certain Original (size 10 size) option is selected.
in the peak area of the popup in the text box should be something starting like this, "<a information-flickr-embed="truthful", brand certain to click in this box and so that the text is highlighted, then copy the entire text.
navigate back to your animated gif photo page, and just paste this unabridged text into a new comment under the image.

Subsequently the comment is placed, yous should see at to the lowest degree a smaller version of your animated gif, in full blitheness, right there in the comment box under your image!

Unfortunately, using the original embed code similar this and clicking on this pocket-sized animation image will not open upward the full sized blithe image. :^(

However, don't despair, if you replace the embed'south code entire first photograph link within its quotes, with the bodily link to your Original sized prototype, when the small-scale prototype is clicked it volition open your full sized original animated gif for viewing!

And a final note which interested members might want to be aware or test for themselves . . .
I seem to be experiencing another consequence with blithe gifs, and I'm wondering if everyone else, or anyone else has the same issue.

In my feel information technology appears that if the gif animation has any more than 5 separate image frames, the Flickr uploader/image decoder refuses to have the image every bit a valid photo, and won't permit the gif to be added to the stream, all I get is an error box that says,"This doesn't expect like a valid photo."

However, if I delete animation frames within the gif so that the maximum prototype frames is v or less, the uploader successfully detects the gifs as valid images and allows them to be added to the stream!

I have tested this frame limit with 4 unlike blithe gifs I had created that originally had more than 5 frames, and in each example I deleted single frames and recreated the gif, then attempted to upload them to Flickr. And in each case the animated gif failed to upload until I lowered the count to just 5 separate frames. Then each gif successfully uploaded and worked properly.

I don't know, but in my opinion if Flickr is going to permit animated gifs at all, then the paradigm uploader should be fixed so that gif animations can accept as many private image frames equally the fellow member wants to use in them, every bit long as the overall dimensions and size limits of the file are within Flickr's stated photo size limitations.

Concerning replies to the OP that animated GIF images can but be seen at the "all sizes" page, then what are those sparkly, twinkly awards that show upward here and there in the comment sections on photo pages ? Are they something other than a GIF ?

Okinawa Soba (Rob): Those replies are incorrect. In that location is no NATIVE way to display animated gifs on Flickr, ie Flickr doesn't support them.

But there'due south naught stopping anyone from using the above communication to link directly to images stored on Flickr and brandish them in the comments of a photo page. Either using the embed codes suggested or only the simplest one-time fashioned html img tag. Instance:

I sympathise this office of Darkonus's post, and I am able to get a smaller working gif to testify upward in the comments portion. What I was asking for more detail on was how Darkonus suggested you lot could get the full size working blitheness to bear witness upwardly in the comments portion:

"Nevertheless, don't despair, if you supercede the embed's code entire commencement photo link within its quotes, with the actual link to your Original sized image, when the small epitome is clicked information technology volition open upward your full sized original animated gif for viewing!"

What/where exactly does "the actual link to your Original sized image" refer to? Thanks! And I honey the cat eyes!
